AI model could boost robot intelligence via object recognition
SRC member, Jiajun Wu, is a senior author of a paper that introduces a new AI model capable of recognizing different components of an object and understanding their functions in the real world. This model can also create detailed pixel-by-pixel mappings between objects. In the future, a robot may be able to differentiate between a meat cleaver and a bread knife, or a trowel and a shovel, enabling it to choose the appropriate tool for a given task.
